Ultra High-Resolution Visual Inspection
See what thermal cameras miss. Our HD visual inspection captures every module in detail, revealing early-stage defects like busbar corrosion, delamination, and cracked glass — the issues that cause warranty claims and performance losses.
Thermal Imaging Has Blind Spots
Thermal inspection is valuable for finding hotspots and electrical faults, but it can't see everything. Many serious defects don't show up as temperature anomalies until they've already caused significant damage:
Busbar corrosion develops invisibly inside the module before it affects performance
Delamination starts small and spreads over time
Cracked glass may not create a thermal signature until moisture ingress occurs
Water ingress is often visible long before it causes electrical failure
By the time these defects appear on a thermal scan, you've already lost generation — and potentially your warranty window.
Panel-Level Detail, Site-Wide Coverage
Our visual inspection service uses ultra high-resolution aerial cameras to capture detailed imagery of every module in your portfolio. This isn't standard drone photography — it's specialist equipment optimised for solar inspection, delivering the image quality needed to identify defects invisible to thermal cameras.
We systematically capture your entire site, then process the imagery to identify and flag any modules showing signs of defects or degradation.
Defects We Identify
Busbar Corrosion
Corrosion of the conductive busbars within the module, often appearing as discolouration or darkening along the cell connections. Left unchecked, this leads to increased resistance, hotspots, and eventual cell failure.
Delamination
Separation of the encapsulant layers from the cells or glass, visible as bubbling, discolouration, or haziness. Delamination allows moisture ingress and accelerates degradation.
Cracked Glass
Fractures in the front glass, from hairline cracks to major breaks. Even small cracks compromise the module's environmental seal and can spread over time.
Water Ingress
Moisture penetration into the module, often visible as condensation, staining, or discolouration patterns. Water ingress is a precursor to corrosion and electrical failure.
Cell Damage
Visible damage to individual cells, including cracks, chips, and discolouration that indicate manufacturing defects or installation damage.
Soiling and Vegetation
Persistent soiling, bird droppings, or vegetation growth that impacts generation and may indicate maintenance issues.
What You Receive
Complete Image Library
High-resolution imagery for every module in your portfolio, organised by location and module ID. Visual documentation of your entire site's condition.
Defect Register
A comprehensive log of all identified defects, including defect type, severity assessment, module location, and supporting imagery.
Digital Twin Integration
All inspection data is geolocated and mapped to your site layout, creating a visual record that integrates with your asset management workflow.
Trend Analysis Support
Repeat inspections allow you to track defect progression over time, identifying which issues are stable and which require intervention.
When Visual Inspection Adds Value
Warranty Claim Preparation
Visual evidence of defects supports your warranty claims. Manufacturers need to see the problem, not just hear about it.
Pre-Acquisition Due Diligence
Buying a solar asset? Visual inspection reveals the true condition of the modules, helping you price risk accurately.
Annual Condition Assessment
Regular visual inspection catches developing problems before they impact performance or fall outside warranty coverage.
Post-Event Documentation
After storms, hail, or other events, visual inspection documents damage for insurance claims and repair planning.
End-of-Warranty Review
With warranty expiry approaching, visual inspection identifies claimable defects while you still have coverage.
Better Together: Visual + Serial Number Capture
Visual inspection is most powerful when combined with our serial number capture service. When we capture serial numbers, we're already photographing every module — adding visual inspection analysis ensures you get maximum value from every flight.
The combination gives you:
- Verified serial numbers for warranty claims
- Visual evidence of defects for the same claims
- A complete digital twin with both identification and condition data
- One mobilisation, one data capture, comprehensive results
Most of our clients opt for the combined service. It's more efficient and delivers a complete picture of your asset.
